COWLEY ROAD FOOD HUB

The Cowley Road Food Hub is a project that presents spaces for kids in the local Oxford area to learn about the process that the food they eat goes through. The food hub is designed as a community engagement program to help children and families who are part of the universal health care and free-school-meals programmes by providing them with an environment that encourages learning and community with others.

The centre is designed so that the circulation of the spaces follows the journey of food from the garden, to the table, back to the garden compost. Children are engaged in the journey of their food via fun interactive spaces that encourage play and adventure.

The project also engages the public realm through a huge basketball and public-recreation space and garden that re-imagines the once disused playground, whilst also becoming a new highlight of the Cowley Road.
